Stand-up For Kids

|  |
Newborns to teenagers-from all over Wisconsin and the nation receive care at UW Children's Hospital. The average length of a child's stay is just over four days; some stay only a day, and others days, weeks, months and sometimes nearly a year.
Many services that help make a hospital feel more like home are not routinely covered by insurance. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of all of the children's books will be donated to purchase:
- Child Life programming to help "kids be kids" even in the hospital;
- an in-hospital school staffed by three Madison Metropolitan School District teachers;
- STARBRIGHT World private online community access to let sick kids talk to other sick kids
- a sibling childcare program;
- a pet therapy program;
- toys, games and activities to encourage normal play during illness and hospitalization;
- injury prevention programs;
- books and computers to help children keep up with their school work;
- housing, meals, transportation and emergency assistance for families who travel great distances;
- special equipment and supplies;
